With the wind picking up in the Fort Myers Area recently, Kayaking has been challenging at times. Those of us using Sit-Inside and Touring kayaks have a real edge over the Sit-On-Top Kayaks. Sit-Inside kayaks keep the paddler considerably dryer, and cut through the wind and current much better then Sit-On-Top Kayaks. If you haven’t ever been in a Sit-Inside Kayak, try it! They are not all like the traditional kayaks with tiny little holes that you must squeeze in and out of. These days, Sit Inside Kayaks are often more stable than Sit-On-Top Kayaks. They make sizes and lengths to fit every body shape and the most novice of paddlers. Also, whoever told you that you might “get stuck upside down” in a sit-in doesn’t have a clue about kayaking.

When shopping for a kayak this season, make sure you really evaluate what sort of paddling you will be doing. Having a professional help you select the best kayak for your needs is invaluable. You can study all you want online, talk to friends, and read forums. Just remember, that person may not be qualified to properly advise you. There are so many choices out there these days, and specialty retailers can give you the expertise and service that will save you a lot more money than buying from a box store because it “looks like a good kayak”. We sell a lot of second kayaks to customers that where ill-advised for their first kayak. We want to help you make the right decision on your FIRST kayak. Just because your friend “Likes his kayak”, doesn’t mean that it’s the right kayak for you. Spend some time at our store with our professional staff and make the RIGHT decision on your purchase. When we made the decision to finally release a shirt for the store, we wanted to do more than just a cotton T-shirt. The elements in Florida make cotton a less-than-desirable material.
